  • Arrive at Cochin Airport. Welcome to India!!!

     

    Meet and Greet at the Airport and transfer to your Hotel for check in. Standard hotel check in time is at 1400 hrs.

     

    Kochi – the Gateway to Kerala was once an important spice-trading route on Arabian Sea where Vasco D Gama landed in 1498 and boasted that he has come for soul and spices. Cochin is virtually the spice capital of world from where Portuguese were exporting 10,000 kilo of spices to east-indies and other countries and has derived it name from Calico-the famous fabric manufactured in this town. Cochin also forms the part of emerald isle of India. Harbour Cruise of Cochin is very much popular. With one of the finest natural harbours in the world, Cochin was once a major centre for commerce and trade with the British, Arabs, Chinese, Portuguese, and Dutch etc.

  • Proceed for a half day city tour of Kochi city visiting Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Jewish Synagogue, and Mattancherry Palace / Dutch Palace.

     

    Jewish Synagogue (closed on Friday & Saturday) – built in 1568, almost 1500 years after the beginning of the Jewish connection with Kerala. It was built on the land, adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace, given by the erstwhile king of Cochin. The synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, was built by the Jewish community of Cochin.

     

    Dutch Palace – also known as Mattancherry Palace was built and gifted by the Portuguese as a present to the king of Cochin around 1545. The palace was built to appease the king after they plundered a temple nearby. The landing of Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer at Kappad in 1498 was welcomed by the Kochi rulers. They were given exclusive right to construct factories.

     

    The Portuguese repulsed the repeated attacks of the Zamorians and the Cochin Rajas practically became vassals of the Portuguese. The influence of the Portuguese were supplanted by the Dutch and they took over Mattancherry in 1663. Subsequently, the area was taken over by Hyder Ali and later by the British Est India Company.

    Later proceed to visit St. Francis Church and Santa Cruz basilica. St. Francis Church – Saint Francis Church, in Fort Kochi, originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India and has great historical significance as a witness to the European colonial ambitions in the subcontinent.

    This evening you will be picked up from your hotel and proceed to witness Kerala’s fascinated Dance show “Kathakali Dance”.  It will take approx. An hour or little longer.

    Munnar – is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it's surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. Eravikulam National Park, a habitat for the endangered mountain goat Nilgiri thar, is home to the Lakkam Waterfalls, hiking trails and 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak.

    Proceed to visit the Tea Plantation in & around followed by visit to the Tea Factory/Museum to see how fresh Tea is made from the green leaves.

Also, a notable elephant reserve, the region is blessed with various species of the animal kingdom including rare and endangered flora and fauna. Located in the Cardamom Hills, the sanctuary covers rolling hills, grasslands, and the merge of the Periyar and Pamba Rivers. Wildlife enthusiasts from all over the world seek Periyar tours to enjoy an adventure expedition in the nature-blessed region.

Alappuzha is considered to be the oldest planned city in this region and the lighthouse built on the coast of the city is the first of its kind along the Laccadive Sea coast.

    The city is 55 km from Kochi and 155 km north of Thiruvananthapuram. A town with canals, backwaters, beaches, and lagoons, Alappuzha was described by George Curzon, Viceroy of India at the start of the 20th century, as the "Venice of the East. Hence, it is known as the "Venetian Capital" of Kerala.

    It is an important tourist destination in India. It connects Kumarakom and Cochin to the North and Kollam to the South. It is also the access point for the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race, held on the Punnamada Lake, near Alappuzha, on the second Saturday of August every year. This is amongst the most popular and competitive boat races in India.

  • Proceed for a half day city tour of Kochi city visiting Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Jewish Synagogue, and Mattancherry Palace / Dutch Palace.

     

    Jewish Synagogue (closed on Friday & Saturday) – built in 1568, almost 1500 years after the beginning of the Jewish connection with Kerala. It was built on the land, adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace, given by the erstwhile king of Cochin. The synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, was built by the Jewish community of Cochin.

     

    Dutch Palace – also known as Mattancherry Palace was built and gifted by the Portuguese as a present to the king of Cochin around 1545. The palace was built to appease the king after they plundered a temple nearby. The landing of Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer at Kappad in 1498 was welcomed by the Kochi rulers. They were given exclusive right to construct factories.

     

    The Portuguese repulsed the repeated attacks of the Zamorians and the Cochin Rajas practically became vassals of the Portuguese. The influence of the Portuguese were supplanted by the Dutch and they took over Mattancherry in 1663. Subsequently, the area was taken over by Hyder Ali and later by the British Est India Company.

    Later proceed to visit St. Francis Church and Santa Cruz basilica. St. Francis Church – Saint Francis Church, in Fort Kochi, originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India and has great historical significance as a witness to the European colonial ambitions in the subcontinent.
