Arrive in Dibrugarh, the gateway to the enchanting landscapes of Upper Assam. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your heritage Chang Bungalow for a two-night stay.

Set amidst lush tea plantations, these charming colonial-era bungalows offer a glimpse into the refined lifestyle of the British tea planters of the 19th century. Their peaceful setting provides a wonderful introduction to Assam’s natural beauty and rich tea-growing heritage.

Later this evening, there may be an opportunity to enjoy a traditional cultural programme in Dibrugarh.

After breakfast, set out to explore the world of Assam tea with a visit to a heritage tea estate renowned for its high-quality CTC teas. Discover the traditional processes involved in tea cultivation and production, followed by a tea tasting session with an experienced tea professional. Continue to Namphake Village, home to the Tai Phake community. Visit its Buddhist monastery and meet local residents to learn more about their distinctive traditions, culture and enduring Tai heritage.

Return to Dibrugarh in the evening.

After breakfast, travel to Majuli, one of the world’s great river islands, crossing the mighty Brahmaputra via the Bogibeel Bridge.

Explore the island’s renowned Vaishnavite Satras, including Kamalabari, Auniati and Shamaguri, offering a fascinating insight into Assam’s religious and artistic traditions. Visit a traditional Mishing village and discover the island’s celebrated mask-making heritage, before seeing a local mustard oil project. Continue to Tinsukia and check in to your heritage bungalow for a two-night stay.

Today is dedicated to the extraordinary biodiversity of Dehing Patkai National Park. Enjoy a full day of birdwatching amidst one of Assam’s last remaining stretches of pristine rainforest.

The park is particularly renowned for its remarkable birdlife, including the rare White-winged Wood Duck, as well as its rich variety of mammals, reptiles and butterflies. Return to your bungalow in the evening.

After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Maguri Motapung Beel, a beautiful wetland renowned for its exceptional birdlife and aquatic habitats.

Continue towards Jorhat, stopping en route in historic Sivasagar, the former capital of the Ahom Kingdom. Explore its remarkable royal monuments, including Talatal Ghar, Rang Ghar and Shiva Dol, before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Charaideo Maidams, the ancient burial mounds of the Ahom royalty.

There may also be an opportunity to meet renowned weaver Hemaprabha Chetia, celebrated for creating extraordinary Assamese epics in silk, subject to her availability.

After an early breakfast, visit Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, famed for its population of Hoolock gibbons and diverse variety of primates.

Continue to Kaziranga National Park, one of India’s most celebrated wildlife destinations and home to the world’s largest population of the Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros. The park also offers the opportunity to encounter elephants, wild buffalo, deer, tigers and an extraordinary variety of birdlife.

Today is devoted entirely to exploring Kaziranga National Park, with morning and afternoon Jeep safaris through its diverse landscapes of grasslands, wetlands and forests.

With several safari zones offering different habitats, the day provides excellent opportunities for wildlife and bird sightings. Keep watch for the park’s iconic rhinoceros, elephants, deer and wild buffalo, as well as an impressive variety of waterbirds and forest species. Return to the hotel between safaris and relax amidst the peaceful surroundings.

After breakfast, travel towards Tezpur, enjoying a scenic boat ride near the Koliabhomora Bridge with the opportunity to spot endangered Gangetic River Dolphins and a variety of birdlife.

Later, experience an exhilarating rafting adventure along the Jia Bharali River, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Himalayan foothills. Return to Balipara in the evening.

This evening, enjoy an optional sunset cruise along the Brahmaputra, offering a tranquil finale to your journey through Assam.
